Coffee workout!

Fridays (along with wednesdays) are pretty chill days for me at work. I don't start until 1pm, which gives me time to get things done in the morning. Lately it has been a time for me to look for a new job, and I've even started going to the gym!

That's right, I'm going to get fit! But don't worry, I won't pain you with sweaty images of me working out. I'm not that type of person ;)

So yeah, that's what I've been doing today so far. I did my routine at the gym, and now I'm at Espresso House looking for a job or internship in fashion before I have to go to my current job. Tonight, the family is going out for dinner in Malmö to celebrate dad's birthday!

CIFF

Just came home from day two at Copenhagen International Fashion Fair. I am really enjoying it so far, even though the days have been long and busy and my legs hurts from standing the entire day.  I started out at CIFF Kids at Forum, but was moved to CIFF at Bella Center after lunch because it was so busy there. It's the final day of the fair tomorrow and I am so excited! How is it possible to feel so exhausted, yet be super pumped at the same time?

What now?

Ugh... I just realised how long it's been since I last updated my blog. When you don't write for a while, then it somehow just gets harder and harder to start again the longer you wait. So here it goes.

What am I doing now? Currently, I am working as a carer for a woman with MS, so it's nothing fashion related. But it's work, and it's an income, which I need badly at this point. And, as you might know from an earlier post, I'll be working at Copenhagen Fashion Fair next week, which I am super excited about! On Friday this week, I'll also be going there for a meeting, which is to prepare for the work at the fair.

By the end of this summer, I'll be starting another job. Also as a carer but for another woman. So now I'm set at least until new years!

Now, for the rest of the evening, I am just going to relax with a cup of tea and a movie (or something else I can watch). I bought this new tea yesterday and it tastes delicious!

Great News!

Ok, so I can finally tell you more about the meeting I had in Copenhagen the other day! It was regarding a job opportunity, and I got the amazing news today that I am going to be working as a Fashion and Design Assistant at CIFF (Copenhagen International Fashion Fair) this August!

This job is a great networking opportunity for me, since as an assistant my job is not only going to be about helping out in general, but also to mingle and getting to know the companies and designers exhibiting at the fair.

I am so happy and excited right now!

Exciting Times

The headline says it all. I had a meeting in Copenhagen today about something that could turn out to be an awesome opportunity for me. I don't really want to say too much as this point, as I don't know how it went yet, but hopefully I will know more in the next few days :)

Also, when I got home I got an interesting e-mail regarding my collection!

I realise now how vague this post is... but hey, just bear with me... Maybe this really is the beginning of something exciting!

Was given this during the meeting. At first glance I thought it was milk, but it turned out to be water.

Don't Sing about Love.

Great song that I've got stuck in my head at the moment.

Updating website

So I decided to update the portfolio on my website! I've been doing some job searching today and applied to a couple of places that i found. The website is the easiest way to show my portfolio when applying online, so I have to keep it up to date with what I've been doing recently :)

In Sweden

So, I'm back in Sweden. Probably to stay... I'm not going to lie, it does feel a bit weird being back and knowing that it won't be just for a couple of weeks this time. I am going to miss London a lot, but at the same time it's just a couple of hours away by plane, so I can always go back to visit.

So far I haven't done that much since coming back. I came back monday evening, and although I've been searching for jobs and such, I've mostly been relaxing. To be fair, I do feel that I deserve a few day's rest, after all the hard work with the collection and all.

Earlier, I found out that the British Vogue had posted my collection, along with the others', on their website! You can find it on this link: http://www.vogue.co.uk/fashion/autumn-winter-2015/ready-to-wear/regent-s-university

My Collection: Break Me

So I thought I'd share the video and the images of my collection from the fashion show last week here on my blog!

About my collection (taken from the catalogue handed out at the show):

The angst and the pain experienced whilst breaking out of a shell is represented metaphorically by the application of cracked surfaces rendered in soft latex, overall encompassing cocoon shapes and structures.

Materials I used were wool and linen, painted with liquid latex.

I was so proud and happy about my collection when I saw it on the runway. I just wish they would have posted a couple of pictures of some of the outfits from behind, these images don't really do any justice to a lot of detail that I put into my work. But anyway, you can see most of it in the video! My collection was opening the show, which was very exciting :)

Emotional Ride

And there it was. The breakdown. I started crying on the bus on my way from uni today, but it wasn't because I was sad. I cried because I was happy, because the past few months have been so incredibly intense and it is soon to be over. It's been such an emotional ride, and I am so proud of what I have achieved!

Today was the first day of our last week in uni. On wednesday we have our final presentation of our collections, and thursday next week is the day of the fashion show. I'm so excited!

Mock interview

I just came home from a loooong day in uni. Although it was very long it felt very productive and I felt quite satisfied on the bus home to be honest.

The day started off with a so called "mock interview" which was an interview where we pretended it was for a fashion company that we would like to work for. I'm not going to lie, I was super nervous! Not only because we will be graded on it, but we found out beforehand that someone from Jigsaw would be there as an interviewer, which made the whole experience feel so much more like a real interview. But I think it went well. My tutor's words after: "Your interview went well. Probably better than I think you thought it did", haha. Once the interview got started I felt a bit more relaxed, and although my portfolio wasn't finished, I was happy with the work I had in there. I actually did get some nice feedback after, so who knows, maybe I got the job?

After school hours I stayed in the studio and kept working on my collection. Only two weeks to go before it all has to be finished! How surreal is that??

Now I need to slow down a bit and relax before I have to go to bed. Why not with some nice music? (And I even think I deserve a glass of wine today!)

Here's a track my friend André sent me:

Friday evening vibes

Relaxing with a late dinner and a glass of red. It is well needed after a day in the studio.

Sunday energy

As always, my weekends are filled with school work. But I'm not complaining, since I actually enjoy what I do. I started my day today with a nice run in the beautiful weather we are having here in London now, before having to go back inside to deal with the work waiting for me. I am a little bit behind on my portfolio and dissertation at the moment due to a slight change of plans last weekend when I was supposed to work on it...

Anyway... did manage to do some of my portfolio work yesterday. This project is about trend forecasting. I chose to do this entire project in Photoshop and Illustratior, as my earlier projects have been hand drawn and painted, just so that I can show some diversity in my work.

Here's a taste:

Catalogue shoot

I can't believe how close it is now! Almost done with uni and the collection! Yesterday we had a photoshoot, where one of the outfits from the collection were photographed for the catalogue, and today we received the images.

I'll show you one image, just because I'm so excited, but only a side view as I don't want to give away too much before the show ;)

Final stages

So the final term of university is moving in high speed. All the toiles (sample garments) are done, and we are now on one of the final stages of the collection - cutting the "real" fabric. It's scary when you're no longer using the cheap fabric. At the moment I'm using this wonderful wool fabric and I really don't want to mess anything up because this colour is hard to find.

Won't look down, won't open my eyes

I personally like this version better than the original. But that's just me.

Formex

So I've just spent my last weekend here in Stockholm with my mum and my sister Charlotte before going back to London. Yesterday, Charlotte and I went to Formex interior fair at Stockholm international fairs.

Cold and windy

I did a photo shoot with my coat for my portfolio today. My sister Charlotte was nice enough to help out and be my model! I did a very light, pale make-up for this shoot. Today was also very windy, which actually helped out in some of the pictures.

Let me know what you think! :)

If you wanna ride

just some musical inspiration. For some reason I've been listening a lot to Röyksopp lately.
