De'Longhi

During the week that we spent in the cabin, I sort of created a mini café. I had brought my espresso machine, caramel syrup and chai powder to be able to make a couple of different drinks, and I managed to teach my sister Louise to appreciate coffee.

The machine is a De'Longhi Icona ECO 310. I bought it cheap on ebay, and I am so happy with it. As with all machines, it takes a little while to get used to it, and you need to experiment a bit with the steamer and the amount of coffee you use. Personally I think it's a lot of fun to play around with it.

Steak and wine

We decided to eat out last night, and try out what Ă–rkelljunga has to offer. Turns out they pretty much have one restaurant in this little town, and even though it was a combined video store and restaurant (classy, I know...) it was actually pretty decent. The staff was really friendly, and the steak was delicious!

 Mum and I had wine.

Our puppies!

It's been so nice to spend time with both of the dogs this week. They're so full of energy and there's always something going on with them :)

One thing they are both lousy at, is hiding how badly they want our food when we're at the table. They're not begging, but they are looking at the food very intensely.

Salmon en Croute

Still relaxing with the family in the cabin! The weather has been strange today. It hasn't been very warm, and it's been raining a couple of times, so we've been spending most of the day indoors.

It was my turn to cook dinner today, so I made some delicious Salmon en croute! It's a fairly impressive dish to serve, however it's super easy to make. I found the recipe HERE.

I've started to enjoy cooking a lot more lately, and often find myself looking for new interesting recopies when browsing the internet. Hopefully, there will be more of that in my blog soon!

Pancake breakfast

I had promised to make pancakes for breakfast, so today I woke up a little bit before everyone else and made American pancakes!

I personally prefer American pancakes, because they're a bit thicker and have a different texture than normal pancakes. Add butter and maple syrup and it's yummy! It was the first time for the others and it was very much appreciated :)

Hail storm

We started the day with a big nice breakfast, and it was looking like it would be a nice and warm day. I was planning to go swimming in the lake nearby later, but I had to cancel those plans as it suddenly started hailing. Not the normal type of hail, but big almost marbles of hail started falling from the sky. I've never experienced anything like it before, here there rarely hails, and when it does it's tiny pieces of hail.

Other than that it was a nice day. Our friend Vicky came to visit and I haven't seen her in over a year so it was fun to catch up!

How was your day

First day of relaxing holiday

Right now, I am in my parent's cabin together with the rest of my family. We are having a week's holiday, and are just relaxing out here in the nature! The others arrived yesterday, but I stayed at home one more day to spend time with Tobias, who unfortunately won't be able to join us until later this week because of work. I had to spend over three hours travelling here, because to get here you have to take three different buses and one train ride, with some waiting time in between.

My sister Charlotte and I decided to take a walk to the closest store and at the same time explore the area, so we brought our cameras. It took us almost two hours back and forth.

One house by the road had these creepy dolls in the window...

This was randomly hanging in a tree.

When we got home it was time for dinner, and then for dessert we had strawberries and cream! I also took the opportunity to make a caramel latte for me and a chai latte for Charlotte, using my beloved espresso machine! I'm getting better at using it, so now I just have to learn to make some nice latte art as well :)

Midsommar

Yesterday, we were invited to my friend Fredrik's family to celebrate the Swedish holiday midsommar. There were loads of people there, all family members or friends of them and it was a lot of fun! We played games, ate traditional Swedish food, such as meatballs ans strawberry cake, and danced. It was a great party and one of the best midsommar-celebrations i've been to. Unfortunately I didn't take that many pictures. I just got pictures of when Fredrik and his brother were "shaved" by their blindfolded girlfriends in front of everyone.

My sister's graduation

Time for another update. Last Thursday, my sister graduated and in Sweden, it is tradition to go and watch the graduates run out through the school door. After that they ride in a big truck around the city, then there's a party at home with friends and relatives. Louise was of course very happy, and I got a lot of great pictures during the day!

Regent's Graduate Fashion Show!

Sadly, I wasn't able to attend my school's graduate fashion show last thursday, since I was here in Sweden. It's a shame because this year I knew all the people showing their collections, so it would have been fun to be there.  Luckily the show is available to watch online on regent's website, so at least I could see it there.

The designers are so talented, there was nothing in the collections that I didn't like. The ones that I liked the most were the collections made by Henna Abdulkarim (15:54) and Beverly (21:12).

If you want to see the show online, you can watch it here!

My sister's prom

My sister Louise had her prom today, so we went to see her and her friends arrive at Grand Hotel in Lund, where the prom was held. It was fun to see, and there were loads of people that had all come to watch. Louise looked very happy and she was very pretty in her dress (which was made by me, by the way ;))
