Employed

I was too tired to write in the blog when I came home yesterday. My trial shift was from 6pm to 9pm, and after the shift the manager took me into his office to give me feedback. He said that they were very happy with me and that they would like to offer me the job! So from now on I'll be working in the bar in Café rouge. They just called me a few minutes ago and told me to come in tomorrow with some papers and they will give me a schedule.

Interview

So this morning I went to Hampstead to have the interview at Café Rouge. The interview was successful, and they asked me to come back for a trial shift later today. I'm a bit nervous though, because the man who interviewed me told me that they have had a lot of trial shifts during the week, but none of them had been good enough.

Feel the pressure...


I can't do anything else than my best. Hopefully, I will do good and they will hire me.

Happy birthday, dear sister!

I'm sure some of you are curious about that trial shift I wrote about, so here is an update. I just came back from the trial shift, with was at a french café called Maison Blanc. Everyone there was really nice and my trial shift lasted for 3 hours and I actually had fun. Afterwards they told me that they will call me and tell me if I get the job in a couple of days, and they also told me that they were very happy with me today. They have someone coming to do a trial shift tomorrow as well, and after that they will decide. So let's hope that they pick me! One of the girls there told me that she hopes I get the job, so that felt really good to hear :)

This morning, before I left to do the trial shift. They called me from Café Rogue, another place that I've applied to, and they wanted me to come in for an interview tomorrow. So things are looking pretty good right now! It's gone from having looked so desperately for a job, to suddenly having several positive responses. It doesn't feel that hopeless anymore.

Also, I want to congratulate my little sister, Louise (who's not so little anymore. She's turning 17 today, OMG!). I feel bad not being there today to congratulate her in person, but I'm in London, so what can I do...

I don't know what I'll be up to tonight. Ellinor and Elin have gone to Wales for the weekend, because Ellinor had an audition (which I found out earlier went very well) for a school. I hope she gets accepted to the school. I know how much acting means to her, and she's very talented as well! :) But yeah, I'm all alone in the room over the weekend, so I'll see if anything pops up, otherwise I'll just watch series or something! 

Desperately

Went job hunting again today. I think the fact that the laptop broke yesterday, scared me so much that I basically ran out today to hand out as many CV:s as possible. I actually got a lot of positive response today, and I even managed to get a trial shift at a french café on Friday. Let's hope I get the job!

It's not fun, having to look so desperately after a job. But I really need the money, especially now that I need to replace my laptop...

Broken laptops and broken hearts

Today (well technically yesterday), Elin and I were out all day looking for jobs. Let us hope that someone contacts us soon...

After we were done with everything we went home and Ellinor, Elin and I made sushi! It was delicious but the plates went empty too quickly.

What I discovered after dinner made me as devastated as I look in the picture. Somehow, my laptop had managed to break sometime during the day. Probably while I was out. The screen is broken from the inside and when I try to start it, all I can see is weird stripes and a big black circle on the screen. I seriously don't know what to do. I need my computer, and I don't have the money to buy a new one at the moment...

I'm surprised over how calm I am about it (on the outside). Luckily, Ellinor is kind enough to lend me her computer sometimes, but it would be so much better if I had my own. 

I'm too upset to keep writing at the moment. I think I need to process this, and maybe get some sleep...

The phoenix alive

It is now 01.28 here in London. No wonder we always wake up so late. We should seriously start going to bed earlier...

Run!

I don't mean to brag, but I was out for a run earlier! I don't want to be that kind of person that writes about excersise all the time (which I'm obviously not), but it felt really good to run. And it was two weeks since I ran the last time, so it was about time. After the run, I took a nice long bath, and as soon as Elin and Ellinor comes back from the store we are going to watch a movie :)

2012-02-20

Before we went to bed yesterday, we decided to set our alarms so that we would wake up at 9am today and then Elin would come at 10am. But of course, Ellinor and I turned our alarms off, which resulted in us waking up at 10.30, and then Elin arrived at 11am. So much for trying to turn the days around... But at least we're awake.

Anyway, it is a beautiful day today, and Elin and I are going to the library to print out our CV:s and then we are going out to apply for jobs. Wish us luck!

Hampstead heath (picture heavy)

Today, we took Elin to Hampstead heath, to show her the beautiful view. It was such a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun.

Now we are home and just ate pizza. We are pretty tired after walking all day and will spend the rest of the night watching a movie!

The good ship

Yesterday evening, Elin, Ellinor and I felt like going out. We first decided to go to the club Tiger tiger, but we left the house quite late, so on our way to the bus stop we decided that we would go to piccadilly circus and see what we would find. At the bus stop Sammy called and asked if we wanted to go with him and his friends to The good ship, which is close to where we live. We first met them at a pub and sat there for a while before going to The good ship. After a while we went back to our place and sat in Sammy's room listening to music until 6am.

It was a really fun night, though I didn't take any pictures.

Nails

When we went to poundland earlier, I decided to buy some nail polish to help me motivate myself not to bite my nails. I've been biting my nails for as long as I can remember, and a while ago I had enough and forced myself to really try to stop. I have always been so ashamed of my hands, and I'm tired of it! I haven't bitten for about a month now, and all you other nail biters out there know exactly what I'm talking about when I say that it is hard! So very hard.

I am proud when I see that my nails actually have become longer, and soon I'll probably be able to paint them and show them off! :D

A quiet day

Today, we went out in the Queens park area and went to a café called Gail's (a café I've mentioned before). It's really nice, and we sat there for a while before taking a look at the library. After that we went to sainsbury's to get some food and then we went to poundland. After I've finished this blog post, we are going to cook dinner, and tonight we might go out to a pub or something. However, I seriously feel like staying home tonight...

Glasses

Most of my friends probably didn't know this, but I have glasses. I hardly ever wear them though. I prefer wearing contact lenses (however, I have become lazy and never wear them either). Today I really felt how tired my eyes get from having to concentrate so much, so I took out my glasses. I should seriously wear them, or my contact lenses, more often...

Don't I look smart in them? :P

Also, I'm feeling much better now. The fever is gone and my sense of smell have almost recovered completely. I'll probably be able to go out and do something fun tomorrow. Now I'm going to watch a film together with Ellinor!

2012-02-16

One of the worst feelings in the world is in that moment when you wake up with a clogged nose and dry throat, being almost unable to breathe. I hate being sick! I was freezing all night, and when I woke up this morning I decided to stay home today as well. The only good thing is that my sense of smell is slowly returning to me. If I feel better later today, I might go out for a walk. I'm so tired of sitting here in my room, having nothing to do but watching series and listening to our neighbours dogs barking in their backyard.

Seriously, those dogs just can't shut up! >.<


Well, I'm going to see if there´s any series to watch now.

sick

Right now, Ellinor and Elin are out exploring London. Meanwhile, I am lying here on my deathbed.

Okay, maybe it's not that bad...


I would have loved to go with them, but unfortunately I have fever and a terrible cold, so I'm going to stay in bed the entire day. Luckily I have my computer and can entertain myself with series, movies and facebook. Anyhow, I hope that Ellinor and Elin have a good time and that the rest of you out there will have a nice and healthy day!

Happy Valentines day everyone! My day will probably not be a good one. I woke up with a really bad cold and could barely breath. So I will stay home all day until our friend Elin arrives in London, and Elin, Ellinor and I will probably watch a movie or something later tonight.

But I hope that all of you out there, in a relationship or not, have an awesome valentines day, and that you'll have some extra fun for me too :P

Sore throat

Woke up today with a sore throat. Not fun at all. I'll definitely be staying home today, I think I need to rest.

Mine and Ellinor's friend is coming to London tomorrow, so I really hope I'll be better by then. I'll also be going to Pure London, a fashion event, tomorrow with Michelle. I really don't want to have a sore throat then.

Relaxing day in Brick lane

So I had a really nice time together with Sojin and Atsou today. We walked along brick lane, after that we went looking for a place to sit down and eat something. Most places were either full or closed, but eventually we found a Costa that had available seats. We had paninis and coffee/tea and sat there for a while :)

I felt pretty boring today actually. I've had an awful headache all day, and I felt that I could have been more social. I think partying two nights in a row, and lack of sleep, did it for me.

Soon, I am going to take a long relaxing bath. I think I really need it.

About last night

I had a great time last night. There was a lot of nice people at the party and we were all dancing, talking and listening to music. The party lasted for a very long time, so we didn't come home until it was almost 5am. Saying that I'm tired right now is an understatement. :P

Now,I am heading over to brick lane to meet up with Sojin and Atsou! :)

Cupcakes!

This has been a very relaxed day. Most of it contained of me and Ellinor sitting in front of our laptops watching series. After a while we went out to buy stuff for making tacos and when we came back we made cupcakes to have as a dessert.

At the moment, we are once again getting ready to go out. This time Sami invited us to a house party.

Propaganda

So last night was a lot of fun! It ended up being me, Ellinor, Terés and Sami that went there together, and then we met Nick, one of Terés's co-workers, at Propaganda. We all danced the whole night and it was fun until my feet started hurting really bad (I was the only one wearing high heels), and after a while we went home.

I think Propaganda has become one of my favourite clubs here in London.

2012-02-10

Ellinor and I just came back after first going over to our landlady to sign the contract, then we went to oxford street because Ellinor needed a couple of stuff, and lastly we went back tomy previous flat to get the very last of my things. So now I have everything. Now I just need to organise all my things.

Tonight, we are going to the club Propaganda again, together with Terés and probably some of our new flatmates. That will be fun! :)

Tired

This has been yet another long day. We decided to start with ikea, and when we arrived there we were very hungry, so we went directly to the restaurant and had some swedish meatballs (a must when you are at ikea).

Our visit at ikea ended with us buying some nice things for the new room. We bought a small table, some glasses, plates and cutlery. We also bought a lamp for the bedside table and a small trash bin.

After we came back from ikea, we were supposed to meet the landlady to sign the contract, but the appointment was changed to tomorrow instead. When that was decided, we took off to pich up the last of my stuff from the other flat (we managed to get everything but a couple of baskets) and we also bought some chicken that we ate.

Now, Ellinor and I are sitting with our laptops at our new table and I am very tired and sore after carrying around stuff all day. Will probably sleep soon :P

2012-02-09

We've woken up and had breakfast, here in our new flat :) I just came out from the shower (which didn't go colder, colder, colder, HOT - like my previous one). We are feeling pretty good about this! Soon, we are going to get the last of my stuff and after that we are going to IKEA. 

The room is a bit messy at the moment. We still haven't unpacked all of our bags, but we will probably take care of that later today.

Everything is new and fresh, the room is big and warm (almost too warm), and it turned out we even have TWO washing machines. I love it!

And how awesome is it to have a kitchen that's actually finished??? :D

On the move

I just came back from loading the first part of my luggage into the new flat. It feels good, though it takes time. Now I am waiting for Terés to come over and then we are going to eat something and after that she will help me with the rest of my luggage.

It's crazy how much stuff I have!

We found a flat!

I'm happy now because Ellinor and I found a flat today! It's so nice. We will be sharing a room, the bathroom is really nice, there is a washer and dryer and a lotof storage space. The flat is newly refurbished, so it feels very fresh :) We just had to take it, we really didn't want anyone else to have it. And it's in a really good location too. It's close to Queens park, and the area has a lot of nice cafés and little shops. We definetly made a good decision!

We move in tomorrow!

Now the only problem is that I have to find someone to take my place in the flat i live in now. There was a guy here earlier that really wanted to move in, but when I spoke to my roommate about it she said she only wanted to share with a girl...

Yay us!

I just came back home. During our time in starbucks, we managed to get two, maybe three viewings scheduled for tomorrow. Yay us! I'm hoping that tomorrow will be our last day to look for flats :)

Before going our seperate ways, Ellinor and I had a look in the Forever21 store. They have a lot of nice stuff there ^^ When we walked around there I felt so motivated to make something of my own. I really hope that we will find a flat where I can have some space to sew.

The flathunting continues

So Ellinor and I went to the viewing earlier today, but were very disappointed. First of all, it took quite a long time to travel there. Also, the place itself was kind of shitty, and the bathroom was disgusting. So I guess we have to keep looking.

After the viewing, we went into central London and went to Pizza hut. We came just before the lunch buffet closed, so we were lucky. And they also had a special offer on the desserts, so we had one portion of cookie dough each as well. YUM!

 When our bellies were full, I had to go back to my flat to show someone my room, while Ellinor went over to her school to take care of a couple of things. The girl that viewed my room seemed to like it. She told me it was the best one she's seen so far, she just had a couple of other places to view before deciding.

Now I am back in central London, sitting in a starbucks together with Ellinor. We both have our laptops and are looking for flats, as usual. Let's hope we find something :)

Viewing

After breakfast, I will be off to meet up with Ellinor and then we are going to view a flat. I hope the flat is good! It sounded pretty good in the ad, and when I called yesterday, the owner sounded nice on the phone. There's really no point in writing a lot of details about the flat before I know we get it. I'll give you more later, depending on how the viewing went :)

Snow

It started snowing yesterday when Ellinor and I left starbucks, and only after a couple of hours there was a thick layer of snow on the ground! It was so nice to see some snow. I was a little disappointed when there weren't any snow in Sweden when I was there, and I really wanted to see at least a little bit of snow this winter. Unfortunately it is a bit warmer today,and the snow is melting away.

Today, I've started packing everything that I won't need at the moment, so that I will be a bit prepared for when I move out. I've filled two suitcases and I still have a lot of stuff left. Two people were supposed to come and view the room today, but I guess because of the snow it is hard to get around here in London, so they will (hopefully) come tomorrow instead.

It's funny how the whole town just stops as soon as there's some snow on the ground. You'd think that they would be more prepared...

Irish = girl?

A funny thing that happened yesterday, when Ellinor and I was at Propaganda,and that I just have to share:

I walked into the girls restroom, and a guy was in there, standing next to the sinks. When I saw him I wondered if I was in the right place so I asked him:

"Isn't this the girls room?"

His response was:

"I'm Irish." and he walked away.

Slow day

The flat/room searching continues! Though, Ellinor and I both feel very slow today. Yesterday evening, she and I went to Propaganda and danced all night. Our feet are sore and we are tired. After spending some time in the apple store (Ellinor needed a new laptop), we now sit in a starbucks with our laptops.

When we were at propaganda I was wearing my hat, and as usual people insisted on trying it on, so now my "Mad hatter" project continues!

Room available

Yesterday, Ellinor and I decided that we don't want to stay in the flat where we live now. Instead we want to find something of our own, where the two of us can live together. So we started looking on the internet and made some phone calls, but so far no luck. After that I went over to Terés and she and I had a little sleepover, which was super nice. We made facial masks and took care of our nails and such.

Today, I met up with Ellinor again, and we've spent pretty much the entire day sitting in starbucks with our computers. We still haven't found any place that we are sure of, though there are some options that have popped up, so we're not worried. The only thing I'm worrying about is that I have to find someone to move in as soon as possible.

No way!

There is no way that I'm going back to work tomorrow! Nu-uh!

Not only because of the fact that no company really has time to answer a 25-30I worked for 6 hours and got payed for less than four! It's ridiculous! I would probably gain more, using that time trying to find another job. And, to be honest, I would rather go back to Sweden than keep working at such a life sucking company!

Well well... Ellinor arrived today, and she, her aunt and I went into central London and had some dinner at a pub, which was really nice :)
