I'm in love!

Today after my first day at work (which wasn't too bad actually. We did the training and will start calling tomorrow), I walked around the area and found this AMAZING bag that I've been eyeing before. I was hesitant at first, because I normally don't buy bags that expensive, but I just had to have it! I figured that since I haven't actually bought something nice for myself in months, I really deserved this. I'm in love!

Now, before I can make out with my bag, I have to go and take care of some errands.

When is it my turn?

Just giving you some nice music to listen to this morning :)

Now off to work it is!

Work tomorrow!

I'm starting work tomorrow and I'm a little bit nervous. I'm going to try to sleep early today so that I won't be late for my first day. It's going to be nice to earn some money again. To actually be able to spend money without feeling guilty because you don't know when you'll have an income again. There's so much I want to buy! I haven't been able to buy anything for myself for months!

Also, Ellinor is moving in to our flat on wednesday. She's a friend from Sweden and she has been here visiting a few times already, so some of the people here in the plat already knows her :) It will be nice to have her here!

Portobello and giant trees

Today was Vicky's last day in London, so after breakfast we went to Notting hill gate and walked to Portobello road.

After we had  been walking around and visiting some small shops for a while, we decided it was time to head back home and eat some lunch before Vicky had to get to the airport. I helped her bring her bags to the station and  after saying goodbye, I met up with Kevin in Natural History Museum.

A trip around the city

Yesterday evening, Vicky and I first cooked some dinner and then we went to a club called Propaganda. Though, we were pretty tired so we didn't stay long.

Today, I showed Vicky around London. We went to Oxford street, Camden town and Hampstead. I tried to show her as much as possible, since she's only staying in London until tomorrow afternoon. Oxford street is kind of a must when you go to London, mostly because it's the most famous shopping street, Camden has a lot of interesting things to look at and Hampstead has the park where you find a fantastic view over London.

A picture of Vicky in the park, with the view of London in the background.

We walked a lot today and are both tired, so we decidet to just stay home tonight and watch a movie or something.

2012-01-27

Soon, I'll be off to meet Vicky, a friend from Sweden who's coming to visit over the weekend. I haven't seen her  since last summer, so it's going to be fun :)

I just got a call from that marketing research company, where I was for an interview for a couple of weeks ago. They want me to start working on an english project they have (I was on an interview for a swedish project). Though, as you know they changed their minds the last time, so I'm not getting my hopes up too much :P

Earrings

I felt like doing something, so I looked through my stuff and found a broken necklace. I took it apart and made a a pair of earrings!

22 Jan 2012

blahblah

I woke up at 12 today, which was a surprise, considering the fact that I was up until 6am tonight, sitting in the kitchen with Francheska and drawing caricatures of everyone in the house. Hahah :P

Terés came over later and we then took a blanket and went to the park. The weather was really nice, but still cold though, so we just sat there for a little while and then we went to costa and had some coffee instead. As always, we had a lot to talk about, and after a couple of hours we went back to my place and talked some more and then she had to go home. I had a really nice time :)

Now, I'm going to watch a movie.

21 Jan 2012

Brrr!

It's so cold! I don't know what's happened to the weather. It was getting warmer just a couple of days ago and now it's freezing.

Right now I'm going to watch the movie "Frozen". I thought it would be fitting...  And I'm covered in my duvet and two blankets to keep warm. This is what I look like right now:

About me

Here is some weird random facts about me:

  • I love the smell of my pillow. Sometimes I can just lie with my face down in my pillow and sniff it.
  • I can't sleep unless I'm barefoot.
  • When I drive and get on the freeway, the "star theme" melody from super mario starts playing in my head.
  • Instead of sucking my thumb when I was a kid, I sucked on the other four fingers. All at once.
  • When I'm tired I tend to stare. It's probably an unconscious attempt to keep my eyes open.
  • Usually, I sleep curled up with my legs close to my body, which makes it impossible for me to sleep on air planes because my legs just keeps falling off the seat.
  • When I'm sick I often end up sleeping in really weird positions.
  • I hate pancakes, which seems to surprise a lot of people.
  • I've always thought that it's beautiful to be black, and when I was little someone told me that carrots make you darker, so I started eating lots of carrots.
  • When I was a kid I was super afraid of our sauna and I truly believed that Greven (a character from a series shown during christmas in Sweden) lived in there. One time I had a friend over and she was really excited over the fact that we had a sauna and when she reached out to open the door to take a look, I yelled out "NOOO!!!"

Swedish problems

I stumbled upon a blog called "Swedish problems" earlier. They post pictures with the swedish king and text saying things about Sweden. Sometimes it's really spot on, and it's pretty funny :)

Pain relief

It's not nice having your body disagreeing with you. I'm saying "Yeah, I'm gonna start running and get in shape", while my body says "Nu-uh!" and shoots pain into my shins. Now it hurts walking (especially in stairs) and it really hurts when I'm running.

So today I went to Boots and bought some gel for inflammation relief, and I really hope it helps. When I bought it, they gave me "Muscle soak bath essence" for free, so I just had a nice relaxing bath.

Goodbye Arthur

Yet another person has left the house. This time it was Arthur. We've known all along that he only would stay for a short period, because he had to go back to Brazil, but it's still sad. He left with such short notice and he booked the plane ticket yesterday. He will be back in England though, so we'll probably see him again!

Arthur was the last guy in the house, so from now on we will be all girls.

(Francesca's reaction to this was " Now we can walk around in the house in our underwear!")

changed their minds

Kevin just called and told me that the people from the company where we had an interview ealier had changed their minds and that they didn't need me. I don't really know why they changed their mind, or why they couldn't have just said so from the beginning, but they still wanted me to send my CV in case thay had another project.

Oh well, I'm sure I'll find something else :P

That was easy

Kevin and I met up today about an hour before the interview. We wanted to be sure to find it in time. We found the place right away, so we had some time to kill and therefore went to Pret.

Say cheese! :P

The interview itself (if you can even call it that) went well. They asked us about our experience and then just  basically explained what the job is about and how much we will be payed. We start tomorrow.

The job is some form of marketing research, where we will call companies in Sweden and ask them questions of some sort. I don't know much more yet, but I will probably find out more tomorrow.

I see the sun

The weather outside is lovely today!

What I'll be doing today is first of all to keep looking for jobs. Yesterday, Kevin got the two of us an interview at some kind of marketing research company, which we will be going to on monday. But I still want to keep looking, just in case. Plus, it is probably a temporary job. But better than nothing, right?

Tonight the whole flat is going out to celebrate the birthday of out friend and flatmate, Francheska. We are going to eat dinner at Pizza express and after that we are probably going to a pub.

Reborns

I just found a blog that was focusing on something called "Reborns". This is the first time I've ever heard about this. It is dolls that look exactly like real babies and toddlers, aaand it's probably one of the creepiest things I've ever seen.

Doesn't it just give you the chills?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

The future is something that seems to be on people's minds a lot. Lately, everyone seems to have all these plans, forming their futures. I keep hearing about my friends' five-year-plans, and few of them seem to live in the present. Some want to move in with their boy-/girlfriend, some want to travel the world and some have their whole career planned. Somehow it makes me kind of stressed. Should I plan more? Am I boring when I don't want to travel the world?

In a way, this whole thing about planning our future is something we've been taught since we were little. I remember when I was a child and all the adults kept asking me what I wanted to be when I grew up. It was even a common topic among me and my friends when we were playing. I have a memory from when I was younger. I couldn't have been very old when my friend and I were sitting on her bedroom floor, playing with her barbie dolls, and she asked me:

"What do you want to be when you grow up? I want to be a nurse, like my mum."

Without hesitation, I answered "I want to be an angel."

A few years after this, I started thinking more deeply about it and wondered which job would be the most fun. So, every time me and my family went somewhere, like for example the grocery store, restaurants and clothing stores, I gathered some courage and asked the person working in the till:

"Is it fun working here?"

The answer was always "yes.". I guess you really can't say no when an innocent little girl comes up to you and ask you that. Imagine what my reaction would've been if the answer was "No, I hate working here.".

A friend and I were talking about this topic the other day. Like me, she doesn't have everything planned, but is that really that bad?  My only plan is to finish school and after that I kind of want to see what happens. In that way, there is no disappointments when I don't get do to everything I wanted in the next five years (or whatever plan I would've had). Maybe I don't feel like working with fashion after I've finished school, and decide to do something else. It shouldn't matter as long as I like what I'm doing, right?

Maybe the younger me was right. Maybe I should focus more on being an angel. Perhaps not in the sense that I was thinking at that point, but more in being the best person I can be. Not to worry so much about what the future will bring, but to live my life to the fullest, to spend time with my friends and show more appreciation to the people that matters the most to me.

Yeah, I want to be an angel.

New header

I just made a new header. It's just temporary, I'm not perfectly happy with it. I just had to make a new one. You can't hang on to cristmas forever, you know.

The font and the text is the same. It's just another picture in the background. (the picture is taken at Piccadilly Cirkus, for those who don't know)

12 Jan 2012

nice food and nice company

I've had a lovely day today. I met up with Atsou, Sojin and Sojin's husband Luke and we went to a japanese restaurant near leicester square (I don't remember the name..). The food was really nice, and very filling. It was almost too much food. I was so full afterwards.

After we finished eating we first went to Japan Centre, and afterwards we went to a bar, where we sat and talked for a while.

It was so nice to see them again! I had a very good time :)

11 Jan 2012

health

I just came back from a run. As everyone else's, my new years resolution is to be healthier. Exercise more, eat less sweets etc. So far it's been good. I just have to keep it up :)

I went to bed hungry last night, which resulted in me dreaming about food all night long. Haha.

Speaking of food - I have to get something to eat, and then I'm going to keep looking for jobs. Later tonight I'm going over to Terés, which I'm really looking forward to :)

Job searching

I'm sitting in the kitchen with Michelle and Kevin. We all have our computers in front of us. I'm not sure exactly what they are doing, but in my case I am using my computer to apply to jobs. My goal now is to apply to at least one job every day. Maybe that doesn't sound like much, but I want to put some effort into every application, and make sure that it fits the job I'm applying to. Hopefully I will find a job soon.

Wish me luck!

Nude

While I was in Sweden, I found some drawings that I made in third grade in upper secondary school (is that the right word?). So, yeah, it was a while ago... We were drawing live models, which was a really fun experience (just a warning: It is nude pictures). I thought that I might as well show it, since I want to show my work here in the blog, and I hope that no-one has a problem with it.

The drawings are all in A3 or A2 format and drawn with charcoal, and we only had a couple of minutes to finish each drawing. I took the pictures with my phone, so the quality isn't the greatest... but still. I think I need to get a better camera..

Fall foliage

I recently discovered this group, and I just love their music. It's amazing and I just have to share it!

2012-01-08

Yesterday, Terés and my cousin Kevin came to visit. We made dinner and watched funny videos on youtube. It was really nice to see them. Kevin stayed over, so I spent some time with him today as well. We watched a movie called Tucker and Dale vs. evil. For those who haven't seen it - see it! It's so good! I've seen it at least three times, and I still think it's funny!

Other than that, I haven't done much. Just been working on my CV basically. Next week I'm going to apply to as many jobs as I can. Uuh... I hate looking for jobs :/

One man's trash...

It's sometimes good to have neighbours that put their old stuff out on the roof, because then you might find something like this:

So now I have somewhere to put my stuff (the bedside table was so small...), plus when I put fabric on it to cover it I could store some stuff underneath it.

Back in London

So I arrived in London last night at 2am. It feels good to be back, though I will miss my family and friends in Sweden.

I've been super tired all day. I arrived late, had to eat something before I went to bed, then my dad called me at 10 am to check on me. After that I've just been getting settled, started unpacking and stuff like that. I feel like I need to go to bed early today...

NYE

I had an amazing new years eve! I went to a party at Fredrik's house and we started at 4pm, with dinner, dessert and then lots of dancing! Just before 12, we went out to a field to look at all the fireworks, and when that was done we continued dancing. The party died around 5am. That means we were partying for 13 hours! So saying that I'm tired now is probably an understatement, because I only got four hours of sleep.

I took some pictures at the party with my polaroid camera. Unfortunately, these were the only ones I took, but you can still see that we had a great time.

I will soon be off to the airport. My plane back to London leaves at 9.25pm
